A good six months after the founding of OBSE, Ewa Kaucz, president of the board of ARAW (Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency) cut the ribbon yesterday, accompanied by her host Agnieszka Orłowska, managing director OBSE, and representatives of the parent company Olympus Europa. Stefan Kaufmann, executive managing director Olympus Europa:

“Following its remarkable development over the past months, we are delighted to officially open our newest subsidiary in the EMEA region today.”

Some 70 guests were able to learn more about the company and its employees during speeches, an accompanying program as well as a tour of the office. In its first business center, Olympus centralizes, simplifies and delivers internal administrative business services – throughout EMEA.

A focus on employees: OBSE expands its workforce

With a personal greeting by the Olympus Europa managers and an entertainment program, the company dedicated the morning to its employees. “During our first few months, we have already been able to build a great team,” says Orłowska. “Over 100 employees at Wrocław, on the 100th anniversary of Olympus worldwide – that’s a reason to celebrate.”

The OBSE employees primarily work in administrative functions in the areas of finance, supply chain, sales support and, in future, human resources. Thanks to the regular, close exchange with their colleagues in EMEA, they immediately experience an international and dynamic company. Orłowska:

“The family but cross-border working environment that we enjoy is something university graduates and young professionals particularly appreciate. Of course, colleagues with foreign language skills are more than welcome.”

In addition to intercultural cooperation, OBSE attaches great value to know-how in the use of SAP business software and PMO (project management office) and offers the corresponding training sessions.

Up to 200 additional jobs by 2020

With the opening of the fast-growing Olympus subsidiary in Wrocław, up to 200 jobs will be created by 2020 – additional to the existing jobs. While doing so, the start-up spirit of the first few months is to be preserved. “The enthusiasm that has gone into setting up the first Olympus business center, coupled with the contribution to the purpose-driven, global core business of medical technology, creates a unique corporate culture at OBSE,” notes Orłowska.

Location decision Wrocław

Olympus chose Wrocław from many cities throughout Europe. Wrocław is international and diverse, boasts a rich cultural life and is demographically young. It is an important center of education in Poland and is home to large numbers of well-educated students and professionals alike with excellent language skills.

With its offices in the modern Retro Office House, OBSE offers its employees an attractive location: centrally located, well-connected, with culinary and cultural amenities within walking distance. The building has modern, spacious offices, kitchens, co-working and creative spaces as well as a gym.

Local and cultural involvement

Ever since OBSE was founded last summer, but especially with yesterday’s opening, Olympus says hello to Wrocław and expresses its gratitude for the hospitality of the city and its citizens. The celebration also marks the mid-point and highlight of a current Olympus cultural event in the city: the renowned Olympus Perspective Playground, an interactive art exhibition that offers visitors the opportunity to try out Olympus cameras, to learn more about Olympus’ various business areas and to create their own imaging worlds. Perspective Playground is open daily until March 10th. Discover Olympus from a new perspective!
